At MaaQef, we believe in the power of community and collaboration to inspire and educate the next generation of STEM leaders. A shining example of this collaborative spirit was evident at the recent STEM Night at W.G. Pearson Magnet Elementary School, organized by the STEM Mentorship Academy. We are proud to highlight that one of our own, Hulgize Kassa, was a key participant in this engaging event.

Hulgize, who serves as a Research Lab Manager and Research Specialist at FREEDM Systems Center, and a dedicated Robotic Instructor at MaaQef, brought his expertise and enthusiasm to the event’s highlight—a hands-on activity where students designed and built generators using motors and magnets to power lightbulbs. This activity not only demonstrated the practical applications of electromagnetism but also encouraged students to think creatively about solving real-world problems.

Our collaboration with the STEM Mentorship Academy for this event underscores our shared goal: to empower historically underrepresented students by providing them with access to high-quality STEM education and mentorship. Hulgize’s participation is a testament to MaaQef’s commitment to community engagement and our mission to foster a love for science and technology among young learners. By working together, we extend our impact far beyond what we could achieve alone, and we look forward to future partnerships that will continue to benefit our community and its bright young minds.
